Another pointless blog
What a day. I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday. I seriously need some relaxation before I have a god damn heart attack. I've not only been pissed off all week but on top that I've had to do a ton of work and studying. I feel like I have a two ton weight just laying on my head. I can't wait for the first moment of summer to hit me when I realize I'm free from homework and studying for a decent amount of time. I'm glad I've tried my best this semester because I don't think I would be able to handle the stress of having to deal with failing my first college courses. I did not do well at all my freshman year in high school so I wanted my freshman year of college to be assistance to my GPA, instead of a burden. My advisor got me a bit worried when she said I needed to mantain around a 3.3 to have a chance at getting into a decent graduate school. If I'm not able to go to law school my life will become my worst fear. In fact I need to go study for American Govt.

Last Math Test
I just got done taking my last math test! I actually think I did fairly decent for once. Although it was pretty difficult, I studying hard and I believe luck might have been on my side this time. I have a fairly good feeling about it. Which is rare, I usually walk out of there feeling like I failed. I can't believe today was our last day of 8 am untill finals! It's hard to believe that the semester will be coming to an end here in the next two weeks. I can't wait for summer. This past year has been one of the worst in my life but luckily I've gotten through it in one piece and I feel like after a summer of good times and relaxing I will be ready to tackle my next year of college with confidence and precision.

Random
A girl just came up to Hannah Montana on Robot chicken, made her sign her laptop and then turned around and blew her brains out! Anyway, It feels like I've been doing homework in the same spot all day, pretty much because I have. It's pretty sad that I have to work on a math assignment for hours and end up with a 68. I'm terrible at math so as long as I pass, its a success in my eyes. Luckily Math 111 is the last mathematics course I will ever have to take. I would be screwed in the morning if we had 8AM. Those extra hours of sleep really help improve my ability to function throughout the day. I'm actually looking forward to getting my paper back because I worked hard on the rough draft. I got the majority of my assignments for the week out of the way to reserve time to work on my paper. I'm out of here I need to go get on my desktop and print out my math pre test so I can do a few problems! Great sunday night activity right there.

Easter
It was a great Easter weekend for the Captain Phillips, the captain of the tanker that was recently captured by Somolian Pirates and held for ransom. The crew managed to escape but the captain was held hostage untill he was resealed this weekend. The Navy seals shot three of the pirates and one of them has been captured. I was extremely happy to hear this especially because I was glad to know that the captain got to be with his family on easter. I know he was happy to see land and the people he loved again; I'm sure for a minute there he wondered if he would ever see them again. The Cavaliers did a number on the Celtics today with LeBron doing work as usual. I had a great Easter sunday watching the game and eating ham. I need to get to bed though because I can't sleep untill three tomorrow like I have been.

12 year old college student!
I thought Math 111 was a tough class but taking Calc. 2, physics and Calc as a 12 year old is just out of this world. I was in middle school, skatboarding and surfing everyday not caring about a thing in the world as a 12 year old. I was surprised to meet a little girl who is 14 years old in my Oceanography class, but 12! By the age of three this kid could read and speak English as well as Korean! He was a bi lingual 3 year old for christ sake! Speaking of sucessful young people a 22 year old Major League Baseball pitcher was killed in a three car pile up early this morning. Nick Adenhart played for the Angels and pitched a great game against Oaklahoma last night and died too young when his sucessful and happy life was just beginning. It gets me down to think about it because he was only a couple years older than me and would've guessed where he would be today yesterday.

Modern Day Pirates
Who would've thought in this day and age we would be hearing about piracy on our oceans again? I never would've believed it if I wouldn't have seen it on the news with my own two eyes. An oil tanker was boarded by pirates off the coast of Africa. After a short time holding the vessel ransom the pirates were over taken by the crew of the ship but the pirates kept the captain of the tanker hostage for in hopes of receiving ransom money for his return. They are still holding him in captive. Not only did I get to see the first African American president in office, but I also got to see the actions of modern day pirates! Hopefully all goes well for the captain who is being held hostage at the current time and I wish his crew the best of luck.

Oceanography
I hate to ramble on blog to blog about my personal struggles but days like today get me so frustrated. I just took an Oceanography test that I had been studying for for the past week. By the difficulty of the test you would've thought I never even studied for the test! It's so hard to prepare for a test that you have no clue which key points in the chapters you will be tested on. Although my professor does give some exclusive detail on certain topics in class, many times that information wont even appear on the test! So I end up going out of my way to study information that I end up not having to know! It's just extremely frustrating to study so hard for a test just to pull off a C or a D because I had no idea what all will be covered on the test. I can't wait untill next semester so I can start on a clean slate and start working on pulling my GPA up. When I went to meet with my advisor I left a worried man because she was basicly implying that although I have been doing my best, unless I pull off some higher grades to pull up my GPA, I might have a difficult time finding a respectable graduate school to pursue obtaining a law degree. For now all I can do is try my best, keep studying hard and hope for the best.

Nonfiction essay topic
For my nonfiction pursuasive essay I choice to analyze the essay "Myspace in not responsible for your kids". I chose this article because I agree with the author and I also believe that the social networking sites should not be held respsonsible for children being available to online predators. It is a parents resposiblity to watch their children, especially regarding their world wide web activities that could lead to an encounter with an online sexual predator.

Just one of those days
Today is just one of those days when I start to let everything get to me. I try to stay positive but everything seems to piss me off. I woke up to punching a hole in my wall, simply because I was tired as hell and did NOT for the life of me want to get out of bed. But I did anyway and proceeded to getting my fist stuck in the wall at 7 oclock in the morning. Everything went smoothly as well untill I miscalculated my walk to class and ended up being late when I should've been on time. Again, not a big deal but I let it bother me of course. Then to put the icing on the cake, I get to math to find out we have a test this week. Not to mention alot of other side events including the burning of my grilled cheese I was cooking which accured as I was typing this sentence! AAH I can't catch a break today!

Saturday in the country
Man it feels good to sleep for 12 hours. I feel great! Its a beautiful saturday after noon and I just finished my online math homework so I don't have to worry about that for the rest of the weekend. I'm on a little personal vacation to Raliegh and it feels so great to be out here. I just needed a little while away from Wilmington. Don't get me wrong I love the port city and its my home but I just have to leave for a weekend here and there to avoid loosing my mind. I ate a delicious country breakfast with sausage eggs and biscuits and now I'm just relaxing looking out over the lake enjoying life. I like to be able to just turn my phone off for the weekend and have a refreshing get away so when I come back to school on Monday I wont be all hung over and feeling like shit, and I'll be ready to do work and get this semester over with. I'm ready for summer! Well I'm about to go on a golf cart ride out to plantation. Ill post more later

Why UNCW should not have a football team
For years UNCW has gone without offering any contact sports. I have heard a rumor that one of the donators or founders sons died playing football so they insisted that UNCW should not have contact sports such as football, lacrosse or wrestling. With the injury risk that is involved in these sports I believe that not offering a football team is justified. According to WWAY adding a football team to our school would cost too much money. Also with an addition of a football program would come scholarship opportunities for this program so the same scholarship opportunities would have to be offered to the UNCW womens athletic department. If a football team was to be established it could possibly cause student fees to increase by astronomical proportions. Many people believe that starting a football team would bring unity to UNCW as well as create more popularity as far as our national status but although this is a great idea, UNCW is just too small and we lack the fund at this point and time to establish such a program. Even though many students favor creating a football team, I think that when everybody's student fee's triple, they might change their mind.

Things haven't been going so great lately. School has really been taking a tole on me. I'm barely awake right now and its nine thirty I mean come on now. I guess I've just been getting sick of it all since It's getting so close to summer. Although things really have been sucking lately, I'm in a fairly decent mood right now because I just picked up a fresh set of tein coiloversprings for my car for a great price from my buddy tristen so I'm actually pretty happy right about now. I can't wait to put them on. I need to get back to my math homework and get to bed before I pass out sitting up.

Friday the 13th
Well I had one hell of a friday the 13th thats for sure, I should be in jail right now but thank god I know my stuff!! My best friend is in jail right now on a $550 bail. He got pulled over because I wasn't wearing my seat belt. Although he had 2 bench warrants for traffic violations, he didn't deserve to go to jail. Cops should be worrying about the murderers and rapists running around town, not us. So anyway, now my best friend whos been there for me since middle school is sitting in jail because my dumb ass didn't put my seat belt on. Although I can't blame myself for him not stashing his stuff properly like I did, I take full responsibility for putting us in that situation. There's nothing worse. The worst part of all is a few months ago 550 dollars was nothing to me! I mean I would literally walk around with a grand in my pocket just for the hell of it throwing money around like it was nothing. I mean I was making 450 a week as at 17 years old and was working with guys all in their late twenties to early thirties, while all of my friends were sitting in class in high school I was sitting on a couple grand and felt like I was on top of the world. I wish I still had that kind of money to throw around because Augie wouldn't be in jail right now thats for sure. So now I got to do what I got to do to get the money to get him out because it's not fair that he's there because of my screw up.

Im ready for six oclock
I seriously wish I had a remote like in that movie click where I could just fastforward through time! Im bored off my ass waiting for my friend to get here so we can get to myrtle beach. I can't wait to ride get out of the car and step foot in myrtle beach south carolina. Thats pretty pathetic that someone like me who has been almost everywhere there is to go but I must be feeling like this because this is the first spring break I've stayed in Wilmington since 8th grade! I feel I would've been much better off going on the cruise to the bahamas like I was suppose to but because my mother and father had business obligations to fill here in the Port City. Oh well, there will be plenty more spring break vacations to come in my lifetime. I also feel like I could've gotten more work done this break if I would've been on the ship!

Freshman Seminar
Taking freshman seminar was the biggest mistake I've made in a while. Although the class only lasts untill march, is just so happens the one day i have just one morning class, I have to come back on to campus just to go come to freshman seminar. I've been at my house since ten after eleven and now its one thirty and I'm sitting here waiting for class to start. The only thing that has seemed to benefit me from having to wait around all this time, is I usually get homework done in that spare time so that I can avoid having to stay up late doing homework assignments. I can't wait to schedule my classes for next semester. I won't be waiting around all day like this that's for sure. I feel like freshman seminar does nothing but make me feel more stressed about school because it adds completely unnecessary assignments that I have to work into my studying schedule. I can understand a few journals but the multiple event responses are rediculous in my opinion. Atleast spring break is right around the corner. It's going to be so sweet to get to write journals for freshman seminar while im sitting on the beach in the Bahamas. Awesome.

Pop Culture
The godfather is a movie based on and Italian Mafia family the Corleones. This trilogy is one of the most well known mobster series in America. The Sopranos is a TV series based on Italian gangsters in the present. It's a bit over the top if you asked me and much more unrealistic than the godfather. The Sopranos live a lifestyle that is rarely seen presently but the Godfather on the other hand is very close to the actual truth of how the Italian Mafia works. These two texts based on the same basic principle of the Italian Mafia, though somewhat alike, have many differences between them.

I chose this advertisement because it applies to our society. I feel bad for some coffee shop and fast food employees who seem to never stop doing something or "cooking"(more like MICROWAVING) something. It also applies because many people these days, have to work jobs that in the past they would have never thought of doing because good jobs are so scarce these days. For example, one of my aunts who recently got divorces, who has a college degree by the way, has to work in the cafeteria at the middle school i attented called Murrary Middle. Then during the summer, she has to work full time cleaning condos on Carolina Beach. That doesn't seem right when a hard working middle class American who attended college, can't get a job that pays more than minimum wage!! This advertisement is targeted towards people who are on the downside of the recession and anyone who has been laid off lately who is looking for a job, or if you young and still looking for your first part time job. So thats almost half the population with the way things have been going the past couple of years. In other words, if you have a good you enjoy a least a sometimes, then consider yourself extremely lucky because there are lots of people out there waiting in line to just apply for a job. For example, in Dade County Flordia recently, the fire department said they would be hiring. Sure enough, there were people lined up, camping out for an entire weekend just for the chance to apply for a position! That shows just how desperate people have become for work these days.

Abraham Lincoln and our economy
I think it's crazy how our 16th president still has such a huge impact on our society today in 2009. I mean he has had direct influence on how Obama has brought in his rivals as members of his cabinet and Barack plans to use Lincoln as presidential guideline. I support Obama but as a consumer in our economy I'm not so sure about this stimulus package he's got going on here, and I think deep down inside he's not too sure of it either. Don't get me wrong I have faith in Barack but I don't think throwing money into every possible government program you could image just to create jobs in the short term is going to actual stimulate our economic slump. I hope my opinion is proven to be invalid in the years to come, for everybody's own good. I have faith in our newly appointed president although I don't believe that his high risk financial agenda will in turn spend our way out of recession.

TV

I'm watching this reality show waiting for the carolina state game to start. I can't believe the reality shows they come up with. The one I'm watching is a show made up of all the craziest people from the flavor-flav show and a few other reality shows. I personally can't stand reality shows, but sometimes I find myself stuck watching them because im astonished at how ignorant and redicilous some of these people really are! I mean I really can't believe that these people really act like this on national TV. The girls just got in the pool and got naked for absolutley no reason. I mean thats cool for the guys and all but its stupid because they're doing it for attention from the camera man of course. FINALLY the games on so I can stop watching this horrible excuse for a TV show. Other than the news, sports is pretty much all I use the TV for, unless theres something good on HBO or some other movie channel. We'll I'm about to try to go get a few pages of American Government book read while I watch Carolina whoop up on State... We'll see how that works out.

The Tragedy of Flight 3407
After such a sucess as the landed flight on the Hudson River a few weeks ago, it is horrible to see this happen. I've flown from both LaGuardia and Newark airports and the thought of crashing always crosses my mind but who I couldn't image what it would feel like to die instantly like that. I honestly have tried to picture what it would be like before and so far it seems like it wouldn't even be bad because it would be over so quick. I also feel bad for the families of the victims and anytime something like this happens it makes my heart skip a beat to think about all the times that could've been me and how I'll be stepping on a plan in a month or so, and then again two months after that, and who know's how much traveling to do in the future. I remember one time my mom and I were late to catching our flight to NY and we were downgraded to a connection flight instead of direct so we could save time not having to wait for another flight and we had to fly in a puddle jumper to raliegh and it was scary. I could image have to crash land in a plane like that, you would be TOAST.
Knockin on heaven's door

Bob Dylan (born as Robert Allen Zimmerman) is a musician poet and an artist and has been influencing people since the civil rights movement. He is well known for many of his hits like "Blowin in the wind" and "Time's are-a-changin"(these were two big anti war anti civil rights songs), and ones like "Forever young" and "Knockin on Heaven's Door". Knockin on heaven's door a song alot of us can relate to in some way. I'm sure you can think of atleast one time in your life you felt like you were knockin on heaven's door. I know I have but it would be more like knockin on hell's door. In the actual song he says he is singing the song from the prospective of a police officer. I could deffinatley see how cops could get down sometimes from all that they see during the course of their career. Especially concerning homicide cases because they're obviously some of the most difficult cases to deal with when it comes to emotions. Anyway, check out the website if you want to check out the "knockin on heaven's door".

World Wildlife Fund
The World Wildlife Fund is an organization dedicated to the environement. Obviously they are up to speed with the world because they have a $2 million network to help threatened ecosystems and communites threatened by the rising temperatures caused by global warming. They are also very involved with protecting animals, especially animals who are in environmental danger or ones who happent on be indangered species. I think the WWF is one of the most well communicated and well known evironmental orginizations around. The WWF is also a good site to refrence to if you are looking for a good way to individually help the environment. So if you're looking for a way to "go green" then make sure you check out the World Wildlife Fund. The WWF also works with governments to help support conservative efforts.
I also found out that 20% of the worlds oxygen is made in the Amazon. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Frequently used words
I really should've even be awake right now. I'm tired and I'm sure I'll be regreting this tomorrow. Anyway, I think the word I use most frequently is dude. I use it for a variety of different purposes, like if i get mad I'll say DUDE or when im talkin to someone suddenly their name is dude. I don't specificly know why I still do it, it's something i picked up when i was much younger, and it just stuck. No matter your age sex or ethinicity, your a dude to me.
Another word i use too much is DAMN. I use it as a curse word and if someone tells me something interesting ill say "DAMN". I use it in alot of other ways too I'm just too tired to think of them right now. There's a few other words I tend to use a little too often as well but I don't think we need to go into detail about them.

R.I.P. Cory Van
You might not have heard yet but last thursday they found a body of a 20 year old guy on the side of river road with a head wound. The first person on the scene was a nurse who said when she arrived Cory had a pulse. He died before the ambulance arrived on the scene. They suspected the wound to his head was a gunshot wound from the severity of it. The last person to hear from Cory was his dad an hour before he was murdered. Cory was went to my high school and was a friend of mine. Every year it seems one more person from my high school overdoses, commits suicide or is murdered. When can this end ??
Recently, new information on the case was revealed when it was announced on the news that Cory Van was set to testify against a few drug dealers in a few weeks. I think that just might explain who killed my friend.

UNCW vs. James Madison University
Saturday, January 31, UNCW Men's Basketball team played James Madison University for UNCW's homecoming game. The guys played a great game and dominated the majority of the first half. It seems like so far this year the team follows a trend of dominting their opponent the first half and then slowly loosing their lead to eventually loose in the second half. This particular game followed that trend perfectly. Although UNCW didn't loose their lead over James Madison untill the last minute of the game! This last minute victory was due to foul trouble and a couple freak plays that shouldn't have happened. It was a shame to have seen the team get so intense with the game and have a double digit lead just to loose it all in the last minute to a team that they were obviously better than in the first place.
Global Warming
Global warming is the biggest issue we're facing in our society. Mainly because we all can't agree on one single way to tackle this issue. Many people who need work trucks to carry around their work equipment everyday, or for whatever reason drive a gas guzzler normally dont want to swap in their turbo diesel for a hybrid. I don't blame them either. I personally could never imagine driving a hybrid. So other than trying to convert everyone to hybrid-ism, I believe I need to do what I can to help out the planet considering it's the only one we're going to get. I know I wouldn't want to be the ones living on Earth when there's too many holes in the ozone to stand the sun for more than a minute. I would be pretty angry with my ancestors if they mistreated Earth to the point where it was near inhabitable and then I was stuck to live with it. I feel like as a society is not irresponsible of us to have done this and now it feels like were just waiting for something to happen so that we HAVE to do something about it because it becomes an actual safety issue. So I'm ready to do my part, are you?

Rainy Mountain
In the introductory paragraph of Rainy Mountain, the narrator sets the tone by giving us some background information on the Kiowas because they are his people, and he also goes into deep detail to describe Rainy Mountain. He begins to go in depth with his descriptions in the first paragraph to give you an idea of what his view of Rainy Mountain appeared to him as. As he gazes over his ancestors land he begins to give us an overview of all the different happenings throughout the seasons at Rainy Mountain, to give us an understanding of how diverse this one stretch of land that his ancestors call home. I think his reason for going in depth about Rainy Mountain in the introductions ties into the rest of the story of Rainy Mountain but specificly the conclusion where he reveals to us that his Grandmother's and other ancestor's grave's are on Rainy Mountain. So i can deffenatley see his reasoning for describing rainy mountain early on in the passage to kind of give us a sense of what it would really be like, especially if you had a deep connection with such a beautiful place like the narrator has with rainy mountain.
America's system of values
I believe that America's system of values does not encourage people to destroy or neglect historical sites or structures. I do believe that there are a large amount of ignorant and disrespectful people in our country who think just because they're American's means that they can do whatever they want and get away with it, when that's not the case. Although America's system of values is different from any other country in the world and does give one somewhat of a sense of "imperialism" but i don't think that our system of values has anything to do with a person (or people) who would destroy a historical site for any purpose, unless a safety issue is involved. Neglection of historical sites on the other hand is slightly a different story, but i still can't understand how our system of values could prevent someone from taking a stand to help preserve historical sites and structures that our important to our countries history. Our countries system of values has diffenatley created a few "duds" as citizens in our society, i believe our country as a whole can overcome the reputation we've earned from other countries as being "lazy, self centered, power hungry or improper".

Keg Party or Study ?
Im debating on whether or not to go to this keg party. I know if i stay here im just gonna study, smoke, and pass out; and call me lame but im diein to finish reading Chapter 3 in my American Government book. I feel like im ready for summer already even though the semester has just started. I'm looking forward to being able to be relieved that i got through my first semester in college with good grades; That is if all goes as planned, but i believe im on the right track to being sucessfull at the DUB. I would really like to become an attorney one day and my performance at UNCW is crucial to getting me closer to goal(of becoming a lawyer). I have a few friends who i went to high school with who go to the DUB now and a they are on academic probation for having below a 1.0 i beleive. They said the reason they didn't do well was because they skipped too much. I dont plan on missing a class unless i absolutley have to, but they also said the work was partially the reason, and thats the part that worries me. What im gettin at here is i hope i can stay on track like i plan to and not end up like them. I think I'm going to ahead and read my American Government book because im not driving up to market street for a damn kegger.

January 2009
I had my first quiz this semester at UNCW today, and I'm pretty sure I did well. I'll be mad as hell if i didn't do good on it though, because i studied a lot. I studied way more than i probably needed too for a quiz but i was bored sitting around waiting for class to start so i figured why not do a few math problems. I honestly hate math because you can know exactly how to do the damn problems but get some problems completely wrong because of one slight error in your calculations. I have to study my ass off to get good grades in math, not saying i dont have to study for my other subjects because i do but math is most certainly my weak point; But after breaking my back six days a week from 9 to 6 for a almost a year straight, studying is a cake walk. I started working at Lease Wholesale's detail shop a week after i graduated the first week in January 2008, where i was by far the youngest employee. I made an average of about 400 dollars a week . I defenatly had it made considering i was only seventeen for a majority of the time i worked there. I pretty much did whatever the fuck i wanted to unless i HAD to be at work. I lived it up while most of my friends from high school, were still in high school. I lived a life that most people dont experience atleast untill their early twenties and i deffenatley feel like I've learned alot about life and other things. Although I did enjoy myself, I'm happy to have started school now because the last thing i would've wanted to do is spend four years doing manual labor.

College
I'm taking a break from the hours of reading im involved in at the time for my American Government class. This is the first time in years that my teachers have actually assigned reading in the text book. Shocking huh? My high school years were pretty much a breeze for the most part, other than trying to balance getting home work done and studying with wrestling and cross country practice. With sports taking up most of my after school hours throughout the year i was always stuck staying up all night studying the night before a test. Now that I'm in college, I feel like I have it easy! Now as crazy as that may sound consider this: how would it be trying to find time to do work between 5 days a week of practice from 4 to 6 30 and an all day tournament every saturday. So now, although the difficulty of the work has increased, I dont dred it like i use to because i can come home every day, sit down with my books and go ahead and knock out all the homework i have the day its assigned so i can spend my evenings studying and reviewing notes taken in class. So yay for homework. Not really though.
My First Blog
This is the first time I've ever blogged. I'm not much of a myspacer or facebooker considering i dont have an account for either. Anyway I printed out some blogs from a website called "sportsblogs.org" which had a lot of information on major league teams which seemed like a good site to use for sports blogging if your're into sports blogging but i personally would rather turn my tv to sportscenter and get my sports info that way. My other set of blogs I discovered were blogs on current political issues. Which is not very exciting but it gives people a chance to voice their opinions and stay up to date with politics in our ever changing world. I think if i would've been a little more informed on how the whole blogging thing goes I would've found more appropriatley fitting blogs to discuss in class. Overall I look forward to the exceperience of starting something new, but I think because of my lack of computer skills I would've personally wanted to stick to journal entries.
